
We all tend to numb/avoid pain, that's normal. But, the more we numb the stuff we don't want to feel, we also deaden the stuff we do want to feel. Numbing - even through seemingly innocuous behaviors like too much screen time, never slowing down to discover the peace and joy in stillness, or eating junk - is a "freeze" response. Freeze is a function of "survival mode." And if survival mode is activated too often for too long, it is theĀ origin of all disease and suffering.Ā So, this is why I chose to stop taking pain medicine before I stopped feeling pain:Ā
